How we get the personal information

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • To subscribe you to our programme newsletter
  • To communicate with you in relation to a TechxFest event you have registered to attend

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • Eventbrite
  • MailChimp – if you subscribe to our audience list in the future
  • We collect information about you when you visit our website for the first time, and when you interact with our pages. Website usage information is collected using cookies.

Cookies

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. Embedded content

Sometimes we’ll embed content in our pages that we don’t control or operate. This is common for social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. When you interact with these elements, which are always marked clearly, you’ve not interacted with our website but instead the service embedded, and we can’t guarantee what data is collected.

Search engine

Our website search is powered by Google. Search queries and results are logged anonymously to help us improve our website and search functionality. No user-specific data is collected by either us or any third party.

Google Analytics

We use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

How we use personal information

We use the information that you have given us to keep you informed about news and events relating to the Tex

We may share this information with the TechxFest careers event partners and Eventbrite and MailChimp.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored.

We keep your contact information for 12 months after the event to 28 Sept 2024 . We will then securely dispose of your information, in accordance with University of Nottingham guidelines

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
